Larry Moffet stands next to his son, Ryan Moffet and Head Coach Larry Weber. Moffet announced his resignation at a school board meeting March 22.

ODESSA - Basketball is more than just a game to Larry Moffet. It has been a way of life for almost 40 years.

But Moffet's run as an assistant coach for the Odessa boys and girls teams came to an end when he announced his retirement at the March 22 school board meeting.

He most recently was an assistant coach for the girls team that made its first appearance at the Spokane Arena this year. Prior to that, he was an assistant for the boys team.

Moffet's decision to retire has been on his mind since 2020 when his youngest son Ryan Moffet, the state's all-time leading scorer, graduated.
