Gorillas romp past Oroville

Conclude season at Springdale

DAVENPORT-After a season-opening loss to Moses Lake Christian Academy, the Gorilla football team has rattled off three straight victories in a strange, independent, 8-man 2023 season. The most recent victory was a 28-6 handling of Oroville on Senior Night Friday, Oct. 20.

The visiting Hornets, whom Davenport previously defeated 24-6 on the road Oct. 6, struck first with an opening quarter touchdown.

The first half proved a slugfest, as Davenport equaled the score 6-6 by halftime. But then the Gorillas pulled away, taking a 22-6 lead in the third quarter before capping the victory with a fourth-quarter score to create a 22-point advantage.

Brock Gustaveson ran for two scores and received another, while Joel Odenrider threw and ran for one touchdown each.

Davenport added another game to its schedule earlier this week. The Gorillas will travel to Springdale to take on Mary Walker at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27.
