Reardan soccer falls at districts

SPOKANE - This season, the Reardan soccer team has rarely had available substitutes and has often had less than 11 players, forcing the Screaming Eagles to play shorthanded in most of their games. Reardan battled through the adversity to qualify for the District 7 tournament, but its run ended with a pair of losses to Davenport and St. George's.

The Screaming Eagles fell to the eventual District champion Gorillas 5-0 Thursday, Oct. 26, playing at a two-player disadvantage with just nine healthy players. Reardan surrendered all five goals in the first half before Davenport mostly played backups in the second half en route to the semifinal victory.

That loss sent Reardan to a loser-out matchup with third-seeded St. George's, and the Dragons shut out the Screaming Eagles 6-0 to advance to the District 6/7 crossover Tuesday, Oct. 31. Reardan had just eight healthy players by games' end.

Reardan finished the season 6-9, with one win each over Medical Lake and Colville and two wins each over Upper Columbia Academy and Kettle Falls. The Screaming Eagles dropped all eight games they played against Northwest Christian, Davenport and St. George's.
