Davenport teams fifth, seventh at state

Branstetter, Wynecoop, Jacobsen top 10

PASCO - The Davenport girls cross country team finished fifth, while the boys team finished seventh in their respective 1B/2B State meets at the WIAA State XC Championships at Sun Willows Golf Course Saturday, Nov. 4.

The girls team accumulated 119 points, finishing behind state champion Pope John Paul II (45), Garfield-Palouse (51), Liberty Bell (75) and Rainier (101).

The boys had 239 points, behind state champion Valley Christian (77), Pope John Paul II (100), Chewelah (108), Liberty Bell (142), Garfield-Palouse (157) and Okanogan (171).

Jaeger Jacobsen had the highest individual finish of any local, achieving fourth place in the boys race with a time of 16:39.7. Josie Wynecoop paced the girls with a time of 20:16.8, good for ninth place.

Gabe Branstetter represented Reardan with a ninth-place finish in the boys race, timing 16:59.0.

Dexter Delaney of Liberty Bell won the boys race at 15:45.1, while Ruby Henry of Pope John Paul II won the girls race at 19:29.1.

Other Davenport girls finishers included Charlotte Soliday in 12th at 20:45.7, Glenna Soliday in 40th at 23:07.2, Jessi Phillips in 68th at 26:19.3 and Alyssa Kruger in 70th at 26:43.3.

The Davenport boys were rounded out by Thomas Furman in 49th at 18:25.9, Kyler Davenport in 64th at 18:40.6, Caige Colbert in 112th at 19:42.6, Kolby Kemmerer in 138th at 20:26.1, Jacob Furman in 158th at 21:57.9 and Colby Kiser in 160th at 22:19.1.
