County road restrictions placed here

Some summer roads closed to all traffic

DAVENPORT — The Lincoln County Public Works Dept. announced last week the restriction of county roads and the closure of some primitive roads.

All countywide roads are currently restricted to oversized traffic. Larger vehicles, like semitrucks, can only travel on state and federal roads without a permit.

Federal roads include Interstate 90 and U.S. Highway 2, while state roads include State Highway 231, State Highway 23, State Highway 25, State Highway 28 and State Highway 21.

Permits can be obtained via the Public Works website.

Some primitive roads have been closed to all traffic after washouts following January’s freeze and subsequent melt.

Gilliland Road, which is between Harrington, Sprague and Edwall, is closed from State Highway 23 to Bly Road. The stretch where Gilliland Road turns into Oestreich Road is also closed due to washouts.

Five roads near Odessa and Harrington are also closed. The closures include Tebow Road north of Lamona, Marlin Road northwest of Odessa, Zeiler Road northeast of Odessa, Groh Road outside Odessa and Duck Lake Lamona Road north of Coffeepot Road are all closed to all traffic.

Conditions on these roads can be monitored on the Public Works website as the weather begins to warm in springtime months.
