Students sought for summer jobs

COULEE DAM —Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area is now accepting applications for the 2024 summer Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) program.

YCC engages young people in work experiences at national parks, forests, wildlife refuges and fish hatcheries, while developing an ethic of environmental stewardship and civic responsibility. No prior experience is needed; just an eagerness to make a difference, according to a National Parks Service release.

Participants will get paid to work, learn and gain leadership skills.

There will be up to three YCC enrollees (nine total) recruited for positions at Spring Canyon, Fort Spokane and Kettle Falls. Indicate on your application which area or areas you are interested in working.

Positions are open to students who are at least 15 years old but will not reach 19 years old by the end of the season.

This is non-residential employment, and all enrollees must provide their own transportation to and from work and a social security number prior to entrance into the program. Employment is scheduled to start June 24 and continue through Aug. 10.

Enrollees will be paid the Washington State minimum hourly wage for 40-hours a week.

To apply, contact the National Park Service or a local high school for a YCC application form. Forms are also available through https://www.nps.gov/subjects/youthprograms/ycc.htm. Applications must be received at the Park Service’s Coulee Dam Office by Friday, April 12. Send completed applications to: National Park Service - YCC, 1008 Crest Drive, Coulee Dam, WA 99116, or email completed applications to: brandi_hansen@nps.gov.
