Coriell fills vacancy on City Council

Seat vacated when Chapman became Mayor

DAVENPORT - A local man who was one of four candidates who interviewed for the Mayor job in December had better luck in his second try at getting involved in city government. Daniel Coriell, 23, was unanimously appointed to City Council's vacant No. 1 seat Wednesday, Feb. 14.

Coriell fills a seat vacated by Jonathan Chapman, who resigned from City Council when Council voted 4-2 to appoint Chapman to the mayoral role in January.

He was the only citizen to apply for the council vacancy. Ergo, councilmembers didn't ask any interview questions of Coriell before his nomination.
