County road restrictions have been lifted

Davenport – All restrictions on county roads that were previously put in place in late January were lifted in late March.

The Lincoln County Public Works Dept. had restricted all oversized vehicles from traversing on county roads. Large vehicles, like semi trucks, could only travel on state and federal roads without a permit.

And some primitive roads had been closed to all vehicle traffic after washouts caused by January’s freeze and subsequent melt.

Gilliland Road, Tebow Road, Marlin Road, Zeiler Road, Groh Road and Duck Lake Lamona Road were all closed for multiple months.

The only current listed road closure on the Public Works website is Ring Road at Rocky Ford and Knapp Roads near Downs.

In other Public Works news, current county engineer Walt Olsen intends to retire by June 30, the County Commissioners shared at a regular meeting Monday, April 15. Public Works Dept. officials are working to hire his replacement.

Inmate cause of death released

Davenport — The Spokane Medical Examiner’s Office released the official cause of death of a Kennewick man who died Saturday, Feb. 17 while booked in Lincoln County Jail.

Thomas L. Faulk, 20, of Kennewick, died of “influenza A (and) hemorrhagic pneumonia complicated by E. Coli infection,” a release from the Examiner’s Office and Sheriff’s Office said. “Rhinovirus (and) enterovirus contributed to the death.”

Faulk had been booked into the jail three days prior to his death on two counts apiece of controlled substance possession, driving without a license, operating a vehicle with suspended registration and failure to comply, jail records showed.
