HARRINGTON - The City Council held a regular meeting on Wednesday, July 24, to discuss several items on the previously approved agenda.
The regular council meeting was called to order with Councilmembers Hardy, Butris, and Meats in attendance.
Councilwoman Moritz was absent and excused, while Councilman Gavin Wagner was expected to join if his schedule permitted, however, a combine kept him occupied. No visitors were present in the gallery.
The agenda proceeded with a request for public comments and additions. A brief addition was noted involving a citizen's business proposition and a discussion on sensors.
A well update was provided.
Since the last meeting, the well was installed and sanitized.
After purging the sanitation, a fresh sample was tested for bacteria, and no issues were found, leading to the lifting of watering restrictions.
However, an electrical issue discovered in the evening on Friday, July 19, temporarily shut the well down.
The issue was addressed by installing additional cooling equipment. The well was brought back online with repairs to loose wires and a new circuit breaker panel, and the situation is now stable.
The meeting continued with a discussion on a resolution related to the Innovia Heart and Soul project. This grant application requires city approval and involves a $10,000 fee covered by community sources rather than the city. The program is designed to engage the community and gather broad input on priorities. Concerns were raised about ensuring the program does not overburden the city and that it reflects comprehensive community feedback.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:42 p.m.
