Released into community custody
DAVENPORT - A months-long case involving a failed car theft, a mental health evaluation, and a plea agreement is moving forward in Lincoln County Superior Court.
Billy J. Bragg, 31, of Almira, reached a plea agreement with the state on Tuesday, May 27, and was sentenced to 15 days in jail with credit for one day served. He was released into community custody and ordered to pay a victim's assessment fee of $25 a month for six months. He must report to Lincoln County Jail by 5 p.m. June 6.
The charges stem from an incident on October 10, 2024, when Noreen Thompson reported that an unknown man with a tattoo near his eye attempted to steal her car from her driveway, according to court documents. When spotted, the suspect exited the vehicle, attempted to shake Thompson's hand, and quickly walked away.
Records show a neighbor, who later identified the man's mother as Coastal Alaska, informed her of the attempted theft. She confirmed the description matched her son, Billy Bragg, born October 12, 1996.
According to court documents, deputies located Bragg at Alaska's residence. When approached by law enforcement, Bragg reportedly admitted to the attempted theft and was arrested. He was booked into Lincoln County Jail on one count of attempted theft of a motor vehicle.
