Combine Derby only a week away
LIND — The motto of “Nothing Runs Like a Deere” is turned in its head June 13-14 at the Lind Combine Derby at the Lind Lions Club Arena.
The goal seems to be making farm equipment go kaput. By design.
Derby organizer Mike Doyle says he has 13 entries this year that will run in heats of four, five and four.
“Each heat runs about 20 minutes,” Doyle said. “Then we drag out the disabled combines with the loader. Once we get through all three heats we give them an hour and a half to get their combines up and going again, and we do a consolation heat for third and fourth place.”
If drivers get first...
