Gun rights restoration debated in court

DAVENPORT — A Chewelah woman’s attempt to restore her firearm rights returned to Lincoln County Superior Court Tuesday, Oct. 7, after years of legal back-and-forth over prior convictions.

Dawn Rina Kortness, 52, faces issues stemming from a 2005 escape conviction. She filed a petition in 2021 with Stevens County Superior Court to restore her firearm rights, which was granted, allowing her to receive a Washington State Concealed Pistol License.
