Willamae "Willy" Stuhlmiller
April 4, 1937 – April 17, 2026
Willamae Josephine Stuhlmiller was born on April 4, 1937, in Seattle, Washington, to Gustaf C. and Alice W. Dahlberg Anderson.
In her early years, Willy lived with her parents and brother, Reed, in Burien, Wash. She worked for her father at the Abrahamson Brick Plant, babysat for many neighborhood families, and also worked at a local drugstore.
Willy attended Highline High School, where she played softball and sang in choir. She went on to attend Pacific Lutheran College (now Pacific Lutheran University), where she was active in many clubs and performed at many PLC sporting events as a Song Leader.
On June 29, 1957, Willy married Bob Stuhlmiller at Glendale Lutheran Church in Burien. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, and farming. Willy and her family were longtime active members of Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Reardan, Wash. She served in numerous leadership roles, including Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
Willy and Bob raised their five children on the family farm in Edwall. She was a stellar farmer's wife and was deeply involved in the community. After the passing of Bob's father, Emil, in 1982, Bob and Willy moved to Reardan while their son Jeff continued farming at the family homestead.
Willy volunteered at St. Luke's Hospital, Spokane, Wash. and with the American Cancer Society. She enjoyed traveling with her best girlfriends and was also known for entertaining at retirement homes with her clogging and singing groups.
In 2002, Willy and Bob retired to Sound Place near Kingston, Wash., where they enjoyed the beauty of Puget Sound. Their home became a cherished gathering place for family and friends. Willy enjoyed participating in Red Hats and meeting with local friends for a rousing game of Bunco. Willy and Bob were devoted members of Vinland Lutheran Church in Poulsbo, Wash. for more than 20 years.
Willy was preceded in death by her brother, Reed Anderson. She is survived by her loving husband, Bob; and their five children: Sharron; Jeff (Rebecca); John (Allyson); Lisa (Bob Churchill); and Trisha (Bill Stepan). She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
