Caley: Primary election turnout reaches 15.9%

DAVENPORT - More than 1,400 Lincoln County voters have already returned ballots for the Aug. 4 primary election, for a return rate of 15.9%.

As of this week, 1,413 ballots had been returned, according to Elections Manager Norm Caley.

Caley said he does not track exact year-to-year comparisons at the same mid-election point, but the current rate appears better than past primaries. Ballots were mailed earlier than usual this year, which also influences the numbers.

Caley offered advice for voters still holding their ballots.
