Highway 25 was closed for cleanup
Lumber and an overturned trailer lie along state Route 25 just outside Davenport after a southbound semi left the roadway Tuesday morning, Sept. 8.
DAVENPORT - A southbound tractor-trailer overturned about 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, spilling lumber onto state Highway 25 after the trailer dropped onto a soft shoulder hidden by fresh chip seal.
William Smith, 62, of Cranbrook, B.C., was cited $150 for wheels off the roadway, Washington State Patrol Trooper Jeff Kershaw said. Smith was alone except for two dogs.
He was shaken and had some bruises but was not seriously injured, the trooper said.
Both lanes of the highway were blocked until the state Department of Transportation crews moved boards off the pavement.
