City weighs airport Jet A fuel tank

DAVENPORT — Davenport is still looking at a Jet A fuel tank at the municipal airport, a project that would cost about $350,000 and depends on loan and grant money.

City Administrator David Leath said the city now has a 3,000-gallon tank of 100 low-lead fuel for most civilian planes. A new tank would hold Jet A for larger aircraft and helicopters.

“Quite similar to the difference between regular gas and diesel fuel,” Leath said. “Jet A fuel is used for firefighting helicopters and potentially, rescue helicopters as well as big crop-dusting airplanes.
