Last Thursday evening, October 15, Odessa residents living on or near First Avenue or driving through town were startled by the sudden appearance of numerous law enforcement vehicles with lights flashing converging on the parking lot of Washington Federal Bank at the corner of First Avenue and Alder Street. The junior-high Titans ended their season undefeated with a 6-0 record on October 19. In the final three games of the season, the team continued to dominate the opposition. At the October 12 meeting of the Odessa Town Council, members approved the final version of the airport lease agreement with Odessa Air Service. Public works director Rod Webster reported he had been in contact with the permitting agencies with regard to cleaning trees, non-native grasses and debris out of the bed and banks of Crab Creek within the town limits. The wheat harvest in the Odessa area is about 90 percent complete, and as most people suspected when harvest began, the outcome has been rather dismal. Last Saturday, July 18, a small car show was held in the parking lot across from the former Rolling Thunder Saloon and current Green Goat Gathering Art Gallery building. The 2015 harvest has begun in earnest, two to three weeks ahead of schedule for most area farmers.
