The senior citizens of Odessa have been the focus of community service by the local high school chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America for the past two years. Last year the chapter was able to donate $9,000 toward the new roof on the Old Town Hall, which is used for senior meals and SAIL (Stay Active and Independent for Life) classes for seniors. he Odessa Chamber of Commerce adopted its budget for 2019 at its monthly meeting at Any Occasion Banquet Hall on December 11. Lorene Schibel passed away on November 27, 2018 in Odessa. She was born August 4, 1928 in Stevensville, Mont. She is a graduate of Pullman High School and attended Washington State College where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She met her husband of 67 years, Don Schibel, at college and they were married on November 16, 1951 in Pullman. They later settled on the family farm, west of Odessa and then retired in Odessa. On November 15, twelve FFA members were able to compete in State Potato Judging and State Tractor Driving. This event is held annually at CBTech in Moses Lake. FFA members from all over Washington come to compete. The potato-judging teams spent many hours looking over potatoes and studying their workbooks.
