Odessa’s feral cat problem has grown to unmanageable proportions in various hot spots all over town. Citizen complaints and concern by the health care community have prompted the Town of Odessa to pass an ordinance requiring pet owners to license their cats as well as their dogs, so that efforts to trap the feral cats do not scoop up people’s pets along with the wild ones. Police chief Tom Clark has been working with Adams County Pet Rescue on ways to humanely deal with the feral cat problem, as well as with loose dogs who...

OLYMPIA, March 10 –– President Donald Trump’s order withdrawing the United States from the Trans-Pacific Partnership was issued with the promise of saving American jobs, but it may also mean fewer opportunities for Washington farmers. The agricultural industry supported the Partnership. Washington wheat growers hoped it would help expand markets in countries like Vietnam and Malaysia where grain demand is growing. Wheat is a $600 million industry in Washington, which ranks fifth in the country for wheat production. Last...

With Richard...
Council members discussed a suggestion from town clerk Gail Kiesz that the parking along the side of the community center be changed to angle parking. The reason for the change was that large pickups in particular take up too much of the roadway when parked facing straight in toward the building. Since the roadway is also a designated truck route, future issues could arise. Deciding that the issue needed more study, the council opted to table it until the next meeting. Odessa Cemetery Cemetery issues were raised by public...
