Halloween Carnival yields high turnout

ODESSA – The Halloween Carnival held in the community center Sunday, Oct. 31, sponsored by the Odessa High School chapter of FFA, is being heralded as a great success.

The "Boo a Business" contest just prior to the carnival saw 30 children submit entry forms after visiting local businesses that agreed to be open from 3 to 4 p.m. for the kids to get treats and a signature from the business. Hartley Steward, the daughter of April and Shawn Steward and granddaughter of Dave and Janie Steward, all of Odessa, won the grand prize.

More than 245 people attended the carnival, many with small children, although some came only to partake of hamburgers and hot dogs served from the commercial kitchen.

FFA advisor HaLee Walter said, "Tons of amazing items were donated to the cakewalk. Fantastic turn out!"
