  • Tiger VB team gets win over Valley Christian, 3-0

    Playing in Spokane, the Odessa Tiger girls’ volleyball team won its conference match against Valley Christian High School on September 8 by three games to one. Odessa 25 23 25 26 3 VC 22 25 23 24 1 McKennah Davison and Maddy Wagner led the team in kills with 18 and 16, respectively. Wagner had 14 digs, and Natosha Boss had 13. Brenna Carstensen put up 40 assists and also led the team with seven service aces. The results of Tuesday’s match against Almira-Coulee-Hartline were not available at press time.... Full story

  • OHS Tigers pounce on Cusick with an 80-0 win

    The Tigers showed their stripes once again last Friday night, pouncing on Cusick by a score of 80-0. The Tigers are now 2-0 for the season. It was an amazing team effort on the field. Drew Hardung, Marcus King and Jakob Starkel each scored 12 points, while right behind them were Jett Nelson, Brady Walter and Tim DeWulf scoring six points each.   • Donald F. Burghard

    Donald F. Burghard passed away August 31, 2018 at Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake surrounded by his family. He was born February 26, 1931 to Fred and Lilly Burghard of Ritzville, Wash. He graduated from Ritzville High School in 1949. Following closure of U & I sugar-beet processing factory, he received his AA degree from Spokane Community College. He married Lorraine Seibel on November 2, 1951. Together they raised five children. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in November... Full story

  • Edward Lewis Crosby III

    Edward Lewis Crosby III died September 4, 2018 at his home in Odessa due to complications from diabetes. He was 68 years old. Ed was born November 27, 1949 in Baltimore, Md., the oldest child of Edward L. Crosby, Jr. and Margaret (Peggy) Strawbridge Crosby. His first five years were spent in Baltimore, after which the family moved to South Bend, Ind. and then, when young Ed was 10, to Sarasota, Fla.   • Burning Man event in Reno, October events in Harrington, Odessa in 1900

    Burning Man Saturday, August 25, a Harrington resident and her sister departed Harrington in a well-laden automobile with gear, supplies and camping equipment strapped to the top, and a sign on the rear reading "The Kettles Go to Burning Man." The preparation for the trip was long, having made reservations in January and great planning into what costumes might be well-received.
