While the fishing season at the Bureau of Land Management’s Coffeepot Lake opens on March 1, the boat launch area will remain closed due to unusually low water levels to prevent boat trailers from getting stuck in the deep mud. Small boats not requiring trailers can still be launched from the shoreline, although users should beware of deep mud if hand launching. The February 9 special election held in Lincoln County saw the school and hospital levies in Odessa and Harrington pass by comfortable margins. Of the 5,823 registered voters in 40 precincts, 3,107 had returned ballots by February 12 when the last count was tabulated for a voter turnout of 53.36 percent. A committee of approximately 15 Odessa former athletes, coaches and supporters has held seven meetings since March of 2015, endeavoring to compile a list of candidates for an Odessa Athletic Hall of Fame. Thus far, the group has established its mission statement and rules and regulations for eligibility for the hall of fame. Carol J. Schuh passed away January 13, 2016, in Davenport. Her home was in Harrington. Carol was born January 4, 1931, in Irby to Henry and Marie Kiehn. She attended school in Ritzville and was a cheerleader and tennis player and graduated in 1949.
