Playing on a neutral field at Gonzaga Prep in Spokane last Saturday, the O-H Titans continued their trek toward the Tacoma Dome and the championship game in eight-man 1B football by defeating and eliminating Almira/Coulee-Hartline. The Veterans Day dinner served up by a group of volunteers was enjoyed by a good crowd in the social hall of Heritage Church last Friday evening. With the passing of Edwin C. Kern, I remember him as being the last member of the Odessa Eagles Aerie 3069, which formed on October 1, 1950 and lasted until it consolidated with the Spokane Eagles Aerie 2 on March 15, 1960. In the wee hours of last Thursday morning, roughly between 4:10 and 4:16 a.m., a male prowler was seen on surveillance video tape walking west on Second Avenue before turning south onto Division Street. "Dusty" Dormaier passed away at home October 27, 2016 at the age of 89. He was born to Emmanuel and Lena-Mary (Hardt) Dormaier on April 17, 1927 in Cashmere, Wash. Dusty was a wheat farmer near Odessa until retiring and moving to the Spokane Valley. Survivors include his wife Darlene, his children Laura Beal, Connie (Lee) Engelhardt and Mark (Beth) Wasemiller, 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Edwin C. Kern passed away November 3, 2016 in Odessa at the age of 100. He was a lifetime resident of the Marlin/Odessa area, where he farmed and raised his family. Edwin was born May 25, 1916 in Marlin to Fred and Matilda (Weishaar) Kern. He attended the Marlin School for grades 1-4, the Lauer school for grades 5-8 and the Odessa school for grades 9-12, graduating in 1935.
