Donated food filled 25 boxes that were packed and delivered so that 53 children attending the Odessa schools would have plenty of food to eat over Christmas break. Members of the Odessa High School FFA chapter took a field trip to the farm of Jeff and Heather Melcher this past Monday, where they learned how to butcher a beef. It was an opportunity to expose the members to another kind of agricultural career. All members helped bone-out, grind and wrap the beef. Christmas Fest 2016 was another success for Odessa businesses and the vendors who fill the tables in the community center with a wide variety of items to buy as gifts for others or treats for themselves. Marvin Fink passed away peacefully on December 7, 2016 at the age of 84. Born in Odessa to Reuben and Elizabeth Fink on April 27, 1932, Marvin was a lifelong resident of Odessa and active member of the community throughout his years. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1950 and married the love of his life Marilyn Salo in 1952. The 75th annual Turkey Carnival put on by the Odessa Lions Club drew a smaller than normal crowd last Saturday, as quite a large number of townspeople opted to attend the quarterfinal football game in Spokane between Odessa-Harrington and Almira/Coulee-Hartline (won by the Titans, see article on sports page).
