George Richard (Dick) Brockway, 89 years old, died at Samaritan Hospital on September 11, 2012. He spent the last 13 years living in Soap Lake, Wash., and he had previously lived in Ephrata for 43 years. He was born in Helena, Montana on January 28, 1923 to Harry and Martha Brockway. The Odessa-Harrington Titans were defeated by the Touchet Indians September 14 in Odessa’s Sausage Bowl under the lights at Finney Field, 42 - 60. I learned a lot about Medicare in the last year. A knee replacement (that went south) and an infection I picked up at the hospital enabled me to extend my hospital stay. I was then taken to a recovery center for a total of 52 days before I was able to go home. I am thankful that my teacher’s retirement insurance covered basically everything that Medicare didn’t. The Odessa Public Library and Historisches Museum have recently added new material to its digital collection celebrating the history of Odessa and neighboring communities. Tuesday morning, Frank and Marcus Horak opened for business as usual. Just not in the usual place. Dale Ramm, project coordinator for the outdoor stage, reported that all Lions are encouraged to come to the Festplatz all day Saturday and after church Sunday to finish up.
