Stephanie Holman, a 2009 graduate of Odessa High School has been accepted into the Disney College Internship program and has been in Anaheim, Calif. since the first of January. The Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars is having a bake sale on Saturday, April 28 in front of New Image Beauty Salon. The money from this sale is used to support programs for the coming year. The Auxiliary sponsors a number of programs on an annual basis. Daffodils blooming must mean it is spring, despite a chill north wind and ground too cold for planting potatoes. Onions and peas should do alright if your ground has been dry enough for tilling. Odessa Memorial Hospital Auxiliary has taken on an urgent project, setting aside temporarily, several other projects on their docket. Sudden changes had to be made in cable television providers for the hospital resulting in an unavoidable 100% increase in cost to the hospital. On Saturday, April 14, The Rolling Thunder Saloon in Odessa will play host to the first fundraising event for the National Motorcycle Riders Memorial Association (NMRM), a non-profit organization established in January 2012. Never used extra help except during harvest when one person was usually needed to help out. Alder St. Fitness & Tanning is the latest Odessa business to cease operations. Patrons arrived early one morning for their daily workout to find a sign on the door advising them that the business was closed. Due to the high cost of fresh crab this spring, the Odessa Lions Club offered a “Surf and Turf” dinner featuring steak and lobster instead. The dinner was held March 10, and drew over 200 diners. Crews were kept busy in the Heimbigner addition to the Community Center as well as outside the main kitchen, cooking both entree choices on grills. The 94th annual Spokesman-Review Inland Northwest Trapshoot contest officially ended as of Sunday, February 26. The combined Marlin-Odessa teams finished in second place, one point behind the Colton Gun Club and one point ahead of Garfield-St. John in Division I.
