    PASCO - A local veterans advocate has announced her candidacy for U.S. Senate. Republican Tiffany Smiley, 38, of Pasco, will challenge incumbent Sen. Patty Murray, D-Shoreline, in the 2022 election. Smiley is a nurse and has been active advocating for wounded veterans since her husband, Scotty Smiley, was wounded and blinded by a suicide bomber in Iraq in 2005.     DAVENPORT--Valene Jean Wynecoop, an inmate at Lincoln County Jail was found dead yesterday just after 3 p.m. during a routine cell check, the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office informed The Times this morning. The sheriff's department believes Wynecoop, 35, committed suicide. The cause of death remains under investigation. Wynecoop's family has been notified. Wynecoop, a Wellpinit native was in jail on charges of third-degree theft. She was arrested by Kalispel Tribal Police and booked April 10. This is a developing story. More...
