    Danielle Tebow was crowned at the Miss Odessa Pageant held Sunday, April 9, at Any Occasion Banquet Hall, and Maleah Davison will serve as Princess Odessa. These two juniors from Odessa High School vied for the title by submitting a written essay, answering questions put to them by the judges and expressing their willingness to represent Odessa at parades throughout the summer months in towns in eastern Washington.     A mailbox at the home of Shirley Johnson at 405 E. First Avenue in Odessa was essentially destroyed Saturday, April 1, prior to about 10 or 10:30 a.m. The mail carrier that day notifed the homeowner that the mailbox was damaged when the attempt was made to deliver that day's mail. The mailbox itself was thrown into the yard and its post was thrown off kilter.     Lincoln County Auditor Shelly Johnston has announced that the official filing period for the fall elections will be held May 15 through May 19, 2017. All offices are subject to both Primary and General Elections. If more than two candidates file for a position, the Primary Election would narrow the field to two candidates who would then appear on the General Election ballot.     The Desert 100 off-road motorcycle endurance race may have been the largest ever judging from the size of the campsite at the corner of Irby Road and SR 28.     OLYMPIA – Spring is here and that means drivers in Washington have until Friday, March 31, to remove their winter studded tires. The Washington State Department of Transportation reminds drivers that state law requires all studded tires to be removed by the end of the day March 31. Starting April 1, drivers with studded tires face a $136 traffic infraction. Studded tires also damage pavement, so removing them promptly after winter has passed helps preserve state roadways. Citizen complaints and concern by the health care community have prompted the Town of Odessa to pass an ordinance requiring pet owners to license their cats as well as their dogs, so that efforts to trap the feral cats do not scoop up people’s pets along with the wild ones.     Council members discussed a suggestion from town clerk Gail Kiesz that the parking along the side of the community center be changed to angle parking. The reason for the change was that large pickups in particular take up too much of the roadway when parked facing straight in toward the building.
