Teacher Grace Moeller and her 5th- and 6th-grade students mixed horticulture and civics when they transplanted flowers grown by Erica Whitmore's FFA horticulture class. The group met behind the Memorial Hall where the students learned to successfully remove the plants from their growth containers and place them into planters donated by local businesses and the city in previous years. The kitchen in the Odessa Community Center is now a USDA-certified commercial kitchen thanks to a year-long community effort spearheaded by Lindsy Starkel overseeing the project funded in part by the Odessa Chamber of Commerce, grant monies and individual donations. The trapshoot held in Odessa Saturday as part of the Spring Fling activities was an Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA)sanctioned event. Nine teams were drawn to town on a day when rain threatened but never developed and wind was a constant bother.
