Odessa Food Bank director Merleen Smith has announced that the Odessa Youth Group consisting of members of various local churches will once again be conducting a food drive for the Odessa Food Bank. A fire of unknown origin near the Lamona home of Rachel Walter came very close to destroying the family farmstead last Saturday afternoon. The wind was a major factor, as it kept changing direction, causing Odessa firefighters to make rapid decisions about where to position their trucks to best contain the blaze. 15-2017 Larry Dick Schroeder was born May 18, 1941 in Ritzville to Alvena Stockman and Aaron Schroeder. Larry passed away October 2, 2017 in Odessa. He served 12 years in the Washington Air National Guard. Larry worked as an auto and machinery parts man from 1960 through 2004 when he retired. He lived in Odessa for the last 42 years. At its September 25 meeting, the Odessa Town Council heard from Steve Nelson of Century West Engineering in Spokane that the FEMA-funded project to repair streets in town would begin with surveying of Dobson Road that would begin in November and after that extend to other streets. The second annual Tim Hauge Memorial Golf Scramble drew a large group of golfers to Odessa Golf & RV. The event in memory of Pastor Tim Hauge, who died in 2016, is used to raise scholarship money for ongoing post-secondary education.
