Laura Kinney is a junior at Odessa High School and plays tennis for the Titans. She is the daughter of Loretta Gobert and Rick Kinney. Coach Rachel Roberts says Kinney is a returning player, but not in consecutive seasons. This year's school musical at the Odessa schools was one of the best we have witnessed on the stage of the multi-purpose room. The singing, the acting, the costumes and staging were all very well done. Something new this year, though, was the youngsters in the crowd scenes who were coached to act as if they were doing something as part of the scene, not just stand and stare at the audience or the other performers. At 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, the Book-it Repertoire Theater will arrive in Odessa for a second visit. This year’s presentation is from the book Phantom Tollbooth. The production will take place in the multi-purpose room of the school. Last year, the same theater company presented Skippyjon Jones to elementary students in Odessa. Howard Kramer died peacefully on March 25, 2014, in Kirkland, Wash. at the age of 93. He was a longtime resident of Odessa until he moved to Kirkland in 2007 to be closer to family. He was born in Dryden to John and Anna (Weber) Kramer. He married Lola Retz in 1952 in Odessa. Howard was an X-ray technician for many years at Odessa Memorial Hospital. Odessa residents have likely noticed a bit more traffic through town this week. It is what the Odessa Chamber of Commerce has dubbed "Bike Week," although this year there is no equipment show or any activities other than motorcycle races on the weekends at either end of the week. The Ralston Grange, located 10 miles south of Ritzville on Highway 261, is sponsoring another fundraiser to help in the renovation of the Ritz Theatre in Ritzville. Last year, the Ralston Grange sponsored a variety show, and a number of Odessa citizens turned out for it and were very supportive, said Randy Roth of the Ralston Grange. Mollie Heinrich Wolf Grant Reed, the youngest of ten children, was born January 27 1918 to Katharina (nee Ottmar) and Gottlieb Heinrich at Willa, North Dakota. The Odessa Chamber of Commerce bought a new trailer for hauling the community float to parades and gave it to the Town of Odessa. They then requested that the town give back the old trailer, so the Chamber can sell it and recoup some of the money spent on the new one.
