DAVENPORT - Two wind turbine project builds being attempted in Lincoln County by Omaha-based Tenaska and Toronto-based Cordelio Power aren't the only projects in the works here. Triple Oak Power, a Portland, Oregon-based green energy supplier, is in the process of leasing land for a turbine project of its own north to northeast of Davenport. While CEO Jesse Gronner was wary to offer many details on the project, titled "Great Bend Wind," before such details are finalized, he sa...

    Drew Lawson, The Record-Times|Updated Feb 22, 2024

SPOKANE VALLEY - An old saying states the simple: Pressure makes diamonds. But it also bursts pipes. And the latter is what happened to the Lake Roosevelt offense when the Davenport girls employed a press defense in the second half of a District 6/7 Crossover game that allowed the Gorillas to pull away from the Raiders 64-44 at West Valley High School Saturday, Feb. 17. The win allowed the Davenport girls to advance to State for the second straight season. The first half had...

The end result was a 54-41 victory for the Tigers that ended the Screaming Eagles' season. • Wisdom needed for wind farm decisions

    Updated Feb 15, 2024

I went to a community meeting about a proposed wind generation project encompassing Reardan and Davenport. First off. This project and the one in southern Lincoln county are huge. These have the economic power to rival or eclipse agriculture. Let that sink in a bit. Farming could take second seat to the concerns of power generation. The thought of seeing wind towers on the horizons of the county sickens me. Look around Colfax and see what I mean. One of the thoughts outside of the forum was why were they offering just a flat...

  • Davenport clipped in District title game

    Drew Lawson, The Record-Times|Updated Feb 15, 2024

SPOKANE VALLEY-Like many sports, basketball is often a game of inches. And a few inches are what separated the Davenport girls from what would've been a shocking District 7 2B Championship win over defending state champion Colfax last Saturday. Instead, it was the Bulldogs who managed to hold off the stampeding Gorillas 59-55 in overtime to defend their District 7 crown Feb. 10. Three days removed from knocking off rival Reardan in the District semifinals, Davenport came out f...
