LAMONT - A local man was named in June as a board member for the Washington Association of Wheat Growers. Dave Swannack replaced Randy Suess as Whitman County president and on the board, the association reported last week. Swannack was one of two new appointees to the board - the other is Leif Claassen of Asotin County. LAKE ROOSEVELT – Two people were reportedly injured in an accident just outside the boat launch just outside Lincoln late Saturday night, Aug 14. Thursday, July 29, the Summer Reading Program concluded with Kris Moritz, leader, with two assistants, Evie Mann and Erica Bailey. During their reading and learning session the children seemed intrigued by some of the creatures: blobfish, goblin shark, bird-eating tarantula, Japanese spider crab and the dugong (a cousin to the manatee). Seven-year-old Declan Burden was selling lemonade at 75 cents a cup outside his family's home on Morgan Street across from Hardy Hardware Wednesday, July 14. He said he would be selling lemonade until his pitcher ran out, which happened quickly given the day's heat. He also said he wants to sell lemonade "hopefully, every day." Senior meals are back at Davenport Senior Center on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays beginning at noon. Seniors come to enjoy a meal, community and card games. Around 150 Model T cars representing the old Ford models from 1909-1927 passed through town Tuesday, July 13 as part of a five-day tour through the greater Spokane-Palouse area. Residents from all over the country parked at the Lincoln County Museum and down Park Street, fascinating a few locals.
