The tenth annual Friends of the Pool Walk-A-Thon was held Sunday, April 19, and raised over $3,000 as of this Tuesday. According to Suzie Deife, FOP President, a total of 62 walkers collected pledges. Most of the walkers were school-aged children, but participants ranged in age from one year old to adults who took advantage of the fresh air and exercise. Those who gathered pledges walked or ran a total of 1,016 laps around the track at Finney Field for a total of 254 miles or an average of more than four miles per person....
There are new regulations from the national organization of the Veterans of Foreign Wars concerning membership. A member may no longer be reinstated if their membership lapses. They will now have to fill out a new membership application. For those members who did not pay their membership dues this year, it has been covered. Meeting Monday, April 13, in the public library, the Odessa Town Council approved the termination of the airport lease of Wilbur-Ellis and then approved a lease for the newly formed Odessa Air Service company.
