Piano Lessons Heather Safe has begun the fall session of piano lessons at the Harrington Opera House with her returning students, as well as teaching three students at Christian Heritage School. She has room for possibly three more students in Harrington. In previous years, children have had arts and crafts available in the Art Room. Quickly and prior to the fall season of music lessons, former Mayor Paul Gilliland had a private moving company from Spokane transport his Yamaha M2-G Italian Provincial piano made of American walnut from his home in Spokane to the Art Room of the Harrington Opera House building. Water fountain In January of 1990, Phyllis Mann requested permission of the city council to purchase and present the city with a lovely water fountain which would be dedicated to the memory of her husband, Art Mann, who had died in July, 1989. Harrington Nazarene Installation On July 17, Randy Craker, district pastor, installed Pastor Cade Clarke and his wife in a “Service of Covenant and Commitment.” Noteworthy were commitments made by Pastor Cade which included, “I will establish my ministry upon the Bible as the Word of God. Gazebo The Harrington City Park gazebo, built in the summer of 1955 by the Lions Club, was set to be demolished this week when a group consisting of Gordon Herron, Mike Herron and members of the 4 x 4 Club contacted the Lions Club and Mayor Haas to seek to preserve the structure and gain ownership. Memorial Flags On Flag Day and Father's Day, the new Memorial Flags were waving in the Harrington cemeteries, Hillcrest and St Francis. The Memorial Flags project was completed prior to Memorial Day, a joint effort of the Harrington Homemakers and the Lions Club. More than 66 flags were purchased.
