DAVENPORT – Lincoln County Commissioners hosted a public hearing regarding Community Economic Revitalization Board funding for Lincoln County’s rural broadband project during a meeting May 17. Economic Development Director Janice Cepeda presented the portion of the project, which would provide high-speed, open access broadband to Wilbur, Creston, Almira and Harrington by August 2022. DAVENPORT – A Creston man convicted of first-degree child molestation was sentenced to 12 months confinement in Lincoln County Jail. Mathew Scott Chafin, 31, will also serve lifetime probation and five years of treatment after he was found guilty of the charge in Superior Court May 4. Chafin originally pleaded guilty Dec. 15. ODESSA – The Odessa High School baseball team finished up their 2021 season with only a single loss in a non-conference away game against Brewster that followed a recent win against the same team at home. The Tigers had a fine season, for the most part dominating their opponents with very lopsided wins. Now, several individual team members have been singled out for recognition on the all-league offensive and defensive teams. ODESSA – We won our first game against Columbia/Inchelium, 14-6. For our first game, we played pretty well. The boys didn't look like they were playing their first game. They were that disciplined.
