Students, teachers and many community members gathered at Finney Field last week to repaint structures there that have been purple for the duration of the Odessa-Harrington athletic cooperative. I had a wonderful visit with an awesome lady and learned some history about this area as she told me her story. Alva Richardson was born in Odessa and remembers when, before there was a Deutschesfest, Odessa had a rodeo. She said it lasted 10 or 12 years and shut down because of lack of participation. Summer Reading Program With eight eager children attending Thursday's Summer Reading Program, the group was much quieter than the previous session with 18. Interestingly enough, more books and DVDs were checked out by the eight.
