The annual BNB High School Basketball Camp for boys held in Soap Lake June 19 through 22 drew teams from throughout the state. Odessa High School sent nine members of the 2017-18 basketball team to the camp. The boys played against 10 different schools, winning nine games and losing one by only three points. The boys were coached at camp by Larry Moffet, who indicated that it was a wonderful time for all involved and that Odessa had a regular season, plus future seasons, to look forward to. Linda May Dymond was born September 12, 1941, in Odessa to Richard and Anna (Hemmerling) Kuch. She passed away June 18, 2017, in Spokane. Linda grew up as a farmer's daughter with her two brothers, Melvin and Paul Kuch. The 81st annual Odessa High School alumni banquet last Saturday was a very well attended event. The community center was filled with OHS alumni from the 1940s to the current graduates of 2017. Noxious weeds on lots within the town limits need to sprayed or hoed out to keep them from spreading. Koshia in particular is growing like crazy right now, and this is a good time to take care of it. The Town of Odessa has an enforceable ordinance mandating that property owners rid their land of noxious plants. If the problem persists, the Town will notify property owners by letter that they are not in compliance. After that, the Town can take care of the problem itself and bill the property owner for the cost of doing so....

Pacific Lake, just a few miles from Odessa, has once again filled with water after a wet winter and spring in eastern Washington, as reported recently in The Odessa Record. Lowell Elmer Reese, 74, lost his battle with cancer on June 7, 2017. Lowell was born on June 10, 1942, in Odessa to Elmer John Reese and Florence Ione (Zicha) Reese.
