On March 20, quilters from all over the northwest will converge on Odessa for the 22nd straight time to quilt their hearts out. This will be the 22nd year of the annual event. Quilting begins at 6 a.m. and ends at 10 p.m. and takes place at the Odessa Community Center. The Odessa Quilt Club sponsors the event, providing the venue, coffee, tea, water and sweet rolls for the crowd. Lincoln County Treasurer Linda Fisher has completed the Tax & Assessment roll for collection and is providing notification that the Treasurer shall now accept payment and issue receipts for the 2017 taxes and assessments per RCW 84.56.020. Harrington Opera House Society The Society met Monday evening, March 6, for its monthly meeting in the Art Room of the opera house. Present were Billie and Gordon Herron, Bunny Haugan, Cade Clarke, Sheryl Stedman, Cherie MacClellan, Carol, Linda Wagner and Marge Womach. This year the secretary sent out 186 newsletters which have brought in donations and memberships. Grants from the Washington State Library and Inland Northwest Community Foundation mean that kids in Lincoln and Adams counties can take advantage of a fun summer day camp beginning this July. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Posse (LCSP) is a mounted search and rescue team of volunteers, appointed by the Lincoln County Sheriff, to assist in search and rescue operations when called upon by providing first-class horsemanship, first aid and any additional support to the Lincoln County Sheriff. Library board meeting Staci Rasmussen, Susan Larmer, Grace Moeller, Marge Womach and Mayor Dillon Haas met Thursday, February 16, to assess the KOHA bar-code software program. The Harrington Public Library has a contract with the Washington State Library to use the program at no charge. Our story last week on the fire that destroyed the home of John Hilty was incorrect on a couple of minor points. Hilty had started out for Moses Lake that morning, but the roads were bad, and he said he just had a feeling he ought to go home. And he did. The East Columbia Basin Irrigation District has announced that it will begin filling the East Low Canal for the 2017 irrigation season on Tuesday, March 21, 2017.
