    Thousands of visitors turned out Thursday through Sunday, Sept. 17-20, for the annual Deutschesfest celebration in downtown Odessa.     DAVENPORT — First-day student enrollment counts in area schools show some with more students and others with fewer. Davenport schools opened the year with 612.15 full-time equivalent students, down 36.28 from September last year. Superintendent Chad Prewitt said the decline is due to a large graduating Class of 2026. September counts show 22.05 12th-grade full-time enrollees.     DAVENPORT — Commissioners approved paying a $2,160 annual maintenance bill for jail cell sensors from the county opioid settlement fund. Sheriff Gabe Gants said the sensors were installed in 2024 in two cells used for inmates in detox or substance-use treatment. The original project cost $12,300 and was approved July 1, 2024.
