    Sam Schneider and Jakin Griffin, both of Davenport and Tucker Walter of Odessa participated in Lincoln County Fair's Wild Pony Races. These young men were sponsored by Basin Tree Services. The owners of Basin Tree Services are Tucker's aunt and uncle, Dan and Judy Nelson of Ephrata. Six teams participated in the event Saturday night of the fair.     A hot, smoky day became even hotter and smokier on Monday as several buildings at a farmstead south of Odessa went up in flames. When firefighters arrived at the scene, the buildings were already fully engulfed, including a small unoccupied house. A newer, double-wide mobile home was also located on the same property, home to Dorothy Frederick of Odessa, but it was not affected by the fire.     The East Columbia Basin Irrigation District has announced that the 2017 irrigation season will end for all East Columbia Basin Irrigation District deliveries on Monday, October 23, 2017. Diana Finkbeiner, representing Odessa Memorial Healthcare Center, requested use of the Old Town Hall for a six-week class on self-management of chronic illnesses such as diabetes, lung disease, chronic pain, etc. The class would meet once each week for three hours each time on one of the same days that senior meals are served.
