DAVENPORT – A Lincoln County Jail inmate has been found dead for the second time in the last month. Mark W. Robinson, 45, was being held in jail and awaiting transfer to the state Department of Corrections when he was found dead during a routine cell check around 11:30 p.m. May 6. Officials believe Robinson committed suicide. Family members have been notified. DAVENPORT – A Creston man convicted of first-degree child molestation was sentenced to 12 months confinement in Lincoln County Jail. Mathew Scott Chafin, 31, will also serve lifetime probation and five years of treatment after he was found guilty of the charge in Superior Court May 4. Chafin originally pleaded guilty Dec. 15. REARDAN – Council approved a request of police chief Andy Manke to begin the hiring process of two new reserve officers at its May 6 regular meeting. Manke is eligible to retire near the end of 2022. OLYMPIA – Gov. Jay Inslee today announced a two-week pause on movement in the Healthy Washington: Roadmap to Recovery reopening plan. Under the pause, every county will remain in its current phase. DAVENPORT – The official filing period for the fall elections will be held May 17 through May 21, 2021. All offices are subject to both primary and general elections. If more than two candidates file for a position, the primary election would narrow the field to the top two candidates, who would then appear on the general election ballot. DAVENPORT – Council’s regular April 28 meeting kicked off with a public hearing to revise the six-year street plan to include a solar illuminate crosswalk sign on Morgan Street that the city hopes to complete in 2021. The tentative funding source would be a mix between Surface Transportation Block Grants and the city and would cost $65,000. Ryan Desmond Johnson, of Spokane, Wash., passed away at Sacred Heart Medical Center on Fri., April 9th, 2021 from heart failure. Ryan was born in Spokane to his mother Dionne Johnson and his grandmother Lonna Bussert on April 13th, 1984. Ryan grew up in Davenport, Wash. and resided in the Spokane area most of his adult life. ODESSA – The Odessa Town Council met April 26 in the community center with a full complement of council members but missing Mayor Bill Crossley. Mayor pro tem Kelly Watkins chaired the meeting. After dealing with financial matters, the council discussed the recycling program provided to the town by Lincoln County. DAVENPORT--Highway 28 has re-opened in both directions about three miles south of town at milepost 131 and at milepost 118 in Harrington after momentarily closing due to two semitrucks colliding and leaking hazmat chemicals, a press release from Washington State Patrol and a Facebook post by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department said.
