(May 17, 2019) Last November the Economic Development Council introduced a new Opportunity Zone that coincides with US Census tract 53043960400 and includes the municipalities of Odessa, Harrington and Sprague. Opportunity Zones provide tax incentives related to long-term private investment in areas that suffer from a lack of business growth. Strohmaier, Judge Criminal Sentencing Scott Wayne Gage, 45, of Spokane, pleaded guilty April 16 to theft of a motor vehicle in connection with the taking of a vehicle from Whitman County between Nov. 21 and 26 of last year that was located near Sprague. Gage was subsequently arrested in Cheney. Strohmaier, Judge Criminal Sentencings Timothy Albert Evenson, 31, pleaded guilty April 9 to third-degree escape in connection with his failure to report on Jan. 2 to begin serving four months in jail, part of his sentence for second-degree trafficking in stolen property that was handed down Nov. 27, 2018. As a result of a plea agreement with prosecutors, the charge was amended from bail-jumping.
