Cruizin' Harrington Beautiful skies and weather prevailed for the 8th Annual Cruizin' Harrington event. Main Street (not Third St) was barricaded for vendors at its junction with Third Street, and traffic flowed slowly and smoothly throughout the day. There was a sufficient breeze to unfurl the flags that lined the streets and the cemetery. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is seeking public nominations for two open positions on the Eastern Washington Resource Advisory Council (RAC). The nomination period is open until June 13, 2019. Grant County – Health District officials recently investigated a report of Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome (HPS) in a young adult from Grant County. The illness was confirmed by laboratory testing on May 10, 2019 at the state Public Health Laboratory. The individual survived the illness and is continuing to recover at home. The illness began in late April with flu-like symptoms and progressing to respiratory failure requiring a hospital stay. Spring Fling 2019 was just about blown away by the weather. An attempt by Odessa Chamber of Commerce members to experiment with locating vendors in the parking areas along First Avenue was stymied by wind gusts of up to 40 mph, blowing dust and even a brief period of hail. The children of Carol Evavold (former long-time resident of Odessa) hosted a 99th birthday party at View Ridge Care Center in Moses Lake where Carol now resides.
