Crab Creek viewed from the Division St. footbridge shows that a layer of ice was not quite thick enough to hold the animals that attempted to cross it. Two sets of footprints lead almost all the way across before ending where the critters broke through. Fortunately for them, they almost to the opposite bank where the creek was shallow and presented no danger. The year 2018 was a good one for Lincoln County! We saw a spike in various sources of revenue that resulted in a higher than expected cash balance at the end of the year. Most of the increases were from sales tax, investment interest and jail revenue. Odessa High School’s chapter of Future Business Leaders of America celebrated FBLA Week with many fun activities. Sophomore class president Pilot Weishaar received a pie in the face from junior class president Ryan Moffet as part of the annual “Copper vs. Silver” competition. Virginia Irene Giese, 93, of Moses Lake, passed away peacefully February 1, 2019. On Wednesday, January 30, the Lady Tigers played against the Prescott Tigers in Prescott. As predicted by this lady, our ladies did a fantastic job showing Prescott just how vicious the Odessa Tigers can be. Odessa won 76 to 32. Some serious teamwork was happening for our ladies. Monday night’s meeting of the Odessa Town Council provided closure of a sort to the story of Odessa’s $12,000 per month contract with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office for coverage while the search for a new police chief went forward.
