Arley Bischoff of Harrington passed away July 2, 2019 in Spokane at the age of 78. He was born March 8, 1941 in Odessa to Matt and Mildred Bischoff. He grew up in Wilson Creek and graduated from Wilson Creek High School in 1959. He later married Myrna Wraspir on October 17, 1959 in Odessa. He worked for the Great Northern/Burlington Northern Railroad for 30 years as a machine operator. Arley is survived by his wife of 60 years, Myrna, his son Dion (Marlene) Bischoff, daughter... The state track meet for 1B, 2B and 1A schools took place last Friday and Saturday at Eastern Washington University in Cheney. The Odessa track and field teams acquitted themselves well, with the boys 4xl00 relay team ascending to the top of the podium as state champions in that event. Cruizin' Harrington Beautiful skies and weather prevailed for the 8th Annual Cruizin' Harrington event. Main Street (not Third St) was barricaded for vendors at its junction with Third Street, and traffic flowed slowly and smoothly throughout the day. There was a sufficient breeze to unfurl the flags that lined the streets and the cemetery. (May 17, 2019) Last November the Economic Development Council introduced a new Opportunity Zone that coincides with US Census tract 53043960400 and includes the municipalities of Odessa, Harrington and Sprague. Opportunity Zones provide tax incentives related to long-term private investment in areas that suffer from a lack of business growth. The IRS has recently released draft regulation for the program, and private investors can now begin looking for Zone properties where they can take full advantage of the tax incentives....
