Cruizin' Harrington Beautiful skies and weather prevailed for the 8th Annual Cruizin' Harrington event. Main Street (not Third St) was barricaded for vendors at its junction with Third Street, and traffic flowed slowly and smoothly throughout the day. There was a sufficient breeze to unfurl the flags that lined the streets and the cemetery. Cruso Last Saturday evening, , Karen Robertson introduced Carolyn Cruso to a small but responsive crowd in the Harrington Opera House at 7 p.m.. Cruso excitedly announced, “It is a treat to be here,” and began playing. After she had played the hammered dulcimer for a few songs, she educated the audience as she went. History Pioneer days must have been terrifying when a fire was out of control. One of the earliest recorded fires in Harrington was that of a saloon building owned by F.B. Wright that was totally destroyed by fire on a wintry January night in 1893. The fire caught from a defective flue. The building was a wooden structure and burned rapidly. Two men were sleeping in the building, F.C. Lee and Harry Long, and they were nearly suffocated by the intense smoke. The only item salvaged from the burning building was the piano. The... Full story

Highlighting the Past: Kinzel and Kinoshita In June of 2015, local home owner Kris Moritz donated a sizable collection of photos and memorabilia from her mother’s (Alice Kinzel Moritz) estate.
