    The Spokesman-Review’s Inland Northwest Trapshoot competition completed week 8 of competition on February 24. The Marlin and Odessa Gun Clubs participate in trap shooting from their respective locations but combine their scores to form one team that is entered into the competition.     On February 11, the Odessa School District held its fifth annual academic assembly to recognize the accomplishments of its students. The program was held in the school multipurpose room.     The State House of Representatives recently passed two bills sponsored by 13th District Rep. Tom Dent and one bill by newly appointed Rep. Alex Ybarra (who fills the post vacated by Matt Manweller). Senator Judy Warnick’s bill to fund rural skill centers was also approved unanimously and sent to the House.     The time for off-road motorcycle racing in the Odessa area has arrived once again. Thankfully, the snow has departed for the most part, so riders will have mud and maybe soft ground to contend with this year rather than the more usual dust.     At Monday’s meeting of the town council, the nuisance ordinance passed last fall led to sometimes heated discussion among townspeople and council members.   • EDC introduces loan officer for County business program.

    The EDC would like to introduce Cassindra Maravilla, loan officer for the Tri County Economic Development District (Stevens, Ferry and Pend Oreille counties) USDA revolving loan program. Cassindra will be available for appointments at the Lincoln County WSU Extension office conference room the second Tuesday of each month. She is eager to assist rural businesses and startups that need financial assistance, but have been turned down for a traditional bank loan.     Lincoln County Treasurer Jody Howard has completed the 2019 Tax & Assessment roll for collection, providing notification the treasurer shall now accept payment and issue receipts for 2019 taxes and assessments per RCW 84.56.020.   • New schedule is set for filling of East Low Canal

    The East Columbia Basin Irrigation District will begin filling the East Low Canal for the 2019 irrigation season later than originally planned due to weather on Saturday, March 24, 2019. The original startup date was March 20. Deliveries from the East Low Canal will begin on March 28.     The Marlin and Odessa Gun Clubs celebrated the close of the Spokesman-Review Inland Empire Trapshooting contest that began January 6 by cementing their position at the top of Division I. Team competition Marlin-Odessa scored 799 out of a possible 800 points to win the title this year. Garfield-St. John came in second with 797 points.
